accessible ticketing project

This donation will help Scantily Glad Theatre achieve our goal of sending 2SLGBTQ+ youth in Scotland to watch Something in the Water at Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We’ve partnered with local organizations, like LGBT Youth Scotland, to provide free tickets for the youth who access their services to attend the Edinburgh Fringe.
We believe everyone should be able to attend, experience, and relate to art without barriers. For queer youth, this opportunity isn't often accessible. This play gives queer youth the chance to view themselves and have their experiences acknowledged on stage.
Every $20 CAD donated buys a ticket for queer young person to come see the show. With your support, we're hoping to raise enough to donate 200 tickets to important 2SLGBTQ+ organizations and community groups around Scotland & the UK.
Winner of the Best Theatre award, Adelaide Fringe 2021, Something in the Water is a comedic solo-show, inspired by creator/performer S.E. Grummett's experience coming out as transgender. When Grumms transforms from a normal girl into a squid monster (think Creature from the Black Lagoon meets The Muppets), they must hide their secret identity in order to pass in society. Stunning video projections, puppetry, and physical comedy combine in this absurd exploration of gender and growing up "normal".

Scantily Glad Theatre is a queer theatre company from Treaty 6 Territory (that's the flat part of Canada). Founded in 2014, we strive to make work that empowers 2SLGBTQ+ folks by telling stories often overlooked by mainstream theatre. Frustrated with the limited possibilities for queer and transgender folks within the rigid gender binaries of existing theatre landscapes, we create new work. Our goal is to produce new, thought-provoking theatre that promotes gender equality beyond the binary, and centre queer stories.
With your support, we can send as many queer young people in and around Edinburgh to see Something in the Water at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August.
